Finale 2014.5 incorporates new features, bug fixes, and significant modernization of Finale code, including many Mac-specific updates resulting in performance improvements and full compatibility with Apple's OS X El Capitan operating system. Features added in this release include. The latest word out of Germany is that Microsoft will finally revamp the Mac OS X iterations of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and more before the curtain comes down on 2014. That's according to Microsoft.

Finally! According to Thorsten Hübschen, Business Group Lead at Microsoft Germany, this year, we will see an updated version of Microsoft Office for Mac. Let's be honest, while Pages and Numbers work decently, Microsoft Word and Excel just work much better. About Keynote and PowerPoint – that's a whole different story.

The existing version of Microsoft Office for Mac was released in 2010, which is ages ago by software standards, so yes, it is about time that we see an updated version. According to another spokesperson from Microsoft, this new version is not a rumor – it's just the timing that is not clear:

'The team is hard at work on the next version of Office for Mac,' she said in an email. 'While I don't have details to share on timing, when it's available, Office 365 subscribers will automatically get the next Office for Mac at no additional cost.'

So, if you're already an Office 365 subscriber, you're golden. If not, and you really need – or want – Microsoft Office for Mac, then you'll have to be ready to shell out some money. Of course, we do not have the pricing scheme for this at the moment, but I have a feeling it's not going to be cheap – it never is!

If you're a Mac user, what office suite do you use? Are you totally satisfied with Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, or have you gone out of your way to purchase Microsoft Office for Mac?
